01 about
Serena Garza is an Austin resident and sixth generation Texan. Her mother, a concert pianist, had a special interest in creating a beautiful environment in her homes for holidays, recitals, parties, and guests. As a result, Serena took an interest in design at a very early age.
Before returning to her home state of Texas, she lived in Chicago and Europe and worked in Chicago as a Design Associate at a private boutique luxury interior design and construction firm. Her most recent job in the Windy City allowed her to work with the Elle Décor creative team in styling a photo shoot in a Chicago Gold Coast penthouse and contribute to a luxury brownstone project in New York’s West Village that was published in Architectural Digest.
While her design experience has also involved projects in Houston, Austin, and South Carolina, she has spent time in Europe in search of the most unique finds for clients whether at the Provence vintage markets or the acclaimed flea markets of Paris. Through her world travels and adventures, she has been inspired by exploring different cultures, lifestyles, architecture, and color, for which this creative energy continues to grow.
Serena graduated from Texas Tech University earning a Bachelor of Arts in English. In her free time, she often finds herself creating – be it photography, cooking, travel, music, art, design, sourcing vintage treasures, or philanthropy. She is also very involved with Partnerships for Children and is a music mentor to a young lady in high school through the organization. These are all things for which she finds her solitude and fulfillment.
On her goal as a designer, “I want to get to know my clients and truly understand what they are personally drawn to aesthetically. Incorporating pieces they already have with a new concept, developing a warm and chic environment to come home to, and ultimately creating a space filled with serenity and comfort is of the utmost importance.” Drawing in all of the senses through color, texture, lighting, architectural detail, and overall ambiance is a key element in her design concepts. “I love to mix different styles to create a cohesive flow with unique and layered objects in a room: contemporary with Parisian chic, eclectic with a splash of elegance. Whatever your style preference may be, my goal is to work with you to achieve it.” On her approach, Serena says, “Let’s have fun with it, and create a beautiful and inviting space for you to dwell."

“We contracted Serena for several projects in our home and could not have been happier with the entire process as well as the final results. Included were a facelift for our living room, dining room and a complete bathroom renovation. She was the project coordinator for all of it - hired and coordinated contractors, picked out and purchased furniture, artwork, lighting and final touches. She put it all together for the reveal and it was within budget and on time!! From the initial meeting to discuss our likes/dislikes/style – what pieces were staying/going- and just getting a general idea of what we wanted, Serena was a complete pleasure to work with.”
“Professional, courteous, straightforward, patient and dedicated to our projects. She did a fantastic job of knowing what we wanted but also including things that we wouldn’t have necessarily put with something else. Mixing styles to add diversity, a pop of color….
“We thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience and we can’t say enough good things about her! We are glad to know that others can and will benefit from her design knowledge and professionalism. We wish her all the best in anything life brings.”

"So happy we found Serena! We coincidently met her at a design event at The Merchandise Mart in Chicago. She went over and beyond with our renovation and interior design project for our Chicago townhouse. She has a one of a kind eye and her attention to detail is awesome. As a bonus she was also a lot of fun to work with and so creative in working around road blocks and maximizing our budget. We love our new space and couldn't be happier. So sad she is moving back to Texas."

"Thank you for putting your "special touch" on my dinner party dining table. I loved the creative way you took ordinary items from my home, some long forgotten and stored away in my closet, as well as organic elements from the garden and the sea to make a casual yet elegant table setting. It helped set the tone for the entire evening and all my guests were full of compliments for the beautiful table."

"Serena helped me put together the living room in my urban downtown condo. Her attention to detail and color scheme was great and the accesories and added pieces really brought warmth to my bare bachelor pad."

"My husband and I recently purchased a new home and I had no idea where to begin. I had an idea of paint colors but needed much more guidance in this area. Serena was the perfect fit for what I needed. She came out to my new home, and did a design consultation with us. She had several color schemes that she recommended (all based on our preferences which she analyzed in a survey/questionnaire we completed prior do this date)."
"I was afraid this process would be overwhelming, but Serena made it just the opposite. She really listened to what I wanted and went from there. If you are looking for someone who is there to give you guidance, while respecting your likes and dislikes, then Serena is your girl! I'd highly recommend her to anyone!"
